Hello fine folks, I found a documentary for you to watch that looks interesting. At first I thought "Oh here we go- a movie trying to prove that wind power is not a viable option". But it's how and where these giant turbines were installed that are ruining the lives of a whole community. Shadows strobe through their windows, the sound is like an airport, and the electric towers create a buzzing on top of that. We need to carry on with our search for alternative sources of energy, and develop these sorts of things away from towns and cities, instead of letting giant corporations do experiments on people like this. What do you think? Windfall trailer:

Damn NIMBYs!
I think we need to fast track windmills and ignore the naysayers. Its that or we have to build a coal-burner down the road, and they're not going to like that any more.
See Ontario to fast-track wind turbine projects
Agreed. This is the crux of renewable energy, if you like it or not: every renewable has a low energy density, so you have to cover large areas with them (roughly country-size). And lo and behold, the NIMBY monster rears its ugly head. It's that, nuclear risk, or climate change.
Living with far less than with what we have now is already included in these scenarios (like IPCC). Where do you think that you're 50 energy slaves will come from? And the changes HAVE to be big. If you unplug your mobile phone charger you save as much energy per day as driving with your car for one second - wow!
And regarding birds: cats and cars kill orders of magnitude more birds than wind turbines. So maybe we ought to get rid of our feline friends, first?
