Chocolate pudding that's good for you!?
You're going to freak out when I tell you that it takes only 3 minutes to prepare...
In a blender, mix:1 avocado (pitted and peeled, of course) -should be a ripe one
3 heaping Tablespoons of raw cocoa powder (you can use normal cocoa powder if you don't have raw)- *make sure it's fair trade though!
1/3 cup raw agave nectar
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
2 teaspoon vanilla extract (or the scrapings from a vanilla bean pod)
1/2 cup water (or more depending if your blender wants more water to work or not)-sometimes it needs quite a bit more.
My son's friends (who are not vegan) love it and ask me to make it when they are over. It can be used for a breakfast, snack or formal desert. Just add berries (especially strawberries) or use it as a fondue with cut up bananas and other goodies. this recipe serves 2 big bowls.
Freeze it in a container and it looks like this when you scoop it out:
If it's too hard let it thaw a bit before serving.
Raw cacao has lots of antioxidants, and...
"Avocados provide nearly 20 essential nutrients, including fiber, potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins and folic acid. They also act as a "nutrient booster" by enabling the body to absorb more fat-soluble nutrients, such as alpha and beta-carotene and lutein, in foods that are eaten with the fruit."
Avocados and Cardiovascular Disease
"Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, but a healthy diet and exercise plan may help reduce your risk of developing the life-threatening illness.
The American Heart Association (AHA) Dietary Guidelines recommend a diet that has at least five servings of fruits and vegetables, contains up to 30% of calories from fats (primarily unsaturated) and is low in saturated fat, cholesterol, trans fats and sodium while being rich in potassium. Avocados can help you meet the AHA dietary guidelines because they have both monosaturated and polyunsaturated fat and contain potassium." (Info taken from http://www.avocado.org/nutrition/)
This recipe is my go-to comfort treat, so luckily it's quick, nutritious and AWESOME!!
It's our most popular recipe so give it a go!
XOXO from Lyn and everyone here at beautiful-vegan :)
blogwalking,happy weekend to you :D
This was REALLY yummy Lyn! I just went out to buy a whole bunch of avocados so that I can make it again.
AMAZING!!! Singing your praise right now with pudding all over my face!
This is fantastic!! Now I can give my little ones ''chocolate mousse'' again! Thank you for sharing!!
I made this last night for four chocolate-loving girlfriends and they LOVED it! I'm going to share it on my blog, corerecipe.com - thank you!
super amazing! thank u so much! i live in a country where milk is in everything and veganism is unheard of: Argentina the land of red meat and cheese! This is so great for my chocolate cravings! Thank u!
You know, just don't tell folks it's vegan if they aren't. Let them enjoy it and then if they ask, tell them. In my house, telling my guys something is vegan or meat free or high fiber can get an automatic "I won't eat it" so I simply don't tell them until they tell me they love it.
Hey Lyn! We tried this out and it is amazing! I ate a big bowl with strawberries and bananas right away and was in absolute bliss the the rest of the day! I just started a blog on here and used a couple scoops of the pudding in a smoothie I made which I'm posting. I wanted to ask if it was alright to post it and link to you and such. I'm doing it right now, but if you would for some reason prefer me not to, let me know and I'll take it down.
What size avocado is used in this recipe?
Hey there! You can just add whatever sized avocado you have, and then add more cocoa powder and agave if it's a really big one :) You will be able to adjust it by taste once you make it- I don't follow my recipe any more- I just seem to know what it should taste like- hope this helps a little, as I know avocados come in many sizes!
great post and great recipes!
i love avocado! thanks!
So I just made this now with my daughter. Can we say.....love at first taste??!! :) Thanks for the yummy and very healthy recipe!
