This is taken from statistics in 2008- now it's even higher.

Ughhhh yeah. Just totally insane. I've always thought about how there is so so much meat out there being consumed in the world. It's so evident at just an unbelievable number, all you have to do is look at the vast number of restaurants in any one city. all the fast food places, high end restaurants, buffets, catering at events...just about all the businesses that serve food. and think about how much meat they have to have prepared to sell in a day, for all the many people that stop by. for a place like mcdonald's that's a ton of meat used at one single location for just one day. it's so hard to imagine that there are thousands (millions?) of restaurants all over the globe that go through all that meat daily. even before turning veggie, I used to wonder how exactly they are able to keep up with such huge numbers like that??? WHERE are all these mass killing grounds and how come we're all so shielded from seeing them with numbers like these? I'm glad I'm finally taking no part in all of it.
Matt
