This short video about birds found with colourful plastic in their bellies should be seen by everyone. I was unwrapping some raw chocolate truffles with almonds when I turned this on... It is made locally, but was packaged in plastic, and it's just so easy to forget that this plastic does not go away. Like, ever. It just breaks up into smaller pieces and birds mistake it for food, and so do tons of other animals and fish.
I'm sure you know this already, but it's a nice reminder to make more effort to buy less plastic packaging. I should have waited until the farmer's market on Monday to buy my chocolate (which is wrapped in paper), instead of buying the plastic-wrapped one :( What was I thinking?
Today was the most beautiful spring day here with birds and squirrels visiting our deck. It's like waking up from a long slumber when the season changes here in Canada. Come summer we will be wishing for the cool air, but for now I am enjoying this. We are a country of extreme temperature fluctuations, and it really feels like being reborn. Hope you are all doing your best, and making this world a better place :)
