Q & A with Dr. T. Colin Campbell
Hi everyone! It's a gorgeous fall day here in Toronto, and I have been meeting all sorts of great people who are interested in the vegan lifestyle. They have been asking many questions about nutrition and vitamins, so I thought I would put up this short question and answer session with Dr. T. Colin Campbell.
In the video he mentions something that I have tried to explain to people- Our tastes change. It's not at all that we have to give up things we eat, it's that we gain a higher taste. We are replacing the bad energy foods with the good. Simple. And our bodies will actually start to crave those high energy foods! I have been on a raw kale kick for several months now- sounds horrifying to some people, but kale salad with wicked home made dressings, nutritional yeast, raw almonds, sunflower seeds and avocado makes me melt.
Best housewarming gift in the world- a bunch of kale.
Love you!
xoxo

a little about me :)
i'm vegan for the animals first, after that it's for my health :) |
Hi guys! Here is a little blurb about me... My name is Lyn Rose, and I decided to make a blog/website with a few friends, that would hopefully draw more and more people to the vegan lifestyle... Beautiful-Vegan.
facing my fear of the open ocean! |
i love you :) |
Soon I will do more public engagements where I share my insights on the subject of Veganism, and how to live a meaningful life. We all run around trying to figure ourselves out, and I finally feel like I know who I am, and what direction I'm headed in.
We called our site Beautiful Vegan because we have watched a real push by mainstream media to label Vegans as cardboard-eaters (that our food is tasteless and lacking nutritional value), so we wanted to associate a positive word with it.
Watermelon is my favourite food! |
my tent and tent food in Costa Rica! |
I would say I'm happiest in the woods, by the water or sitting in front of a fire somewhere, doing absolutely nothing at all. I guess that makes me a tree-hugging hippie or something, but who doesn't feel wonderful communing with nature?
I am a writer, painter (two degrees in fine arts), graphic designer, blogger, digital photographer, adventurer, Vegan chef, pirate, mermaid, woodland fairy, and jewelry maker, among so many other things, but none of them define me.
What drives me is the desire to become a better person, and to hopefully inspire others to seek the same thing. This planet is lovely, and so are all the creatures who share it with us. I have been vegan for over 13 years now, and was vegetarian for half of my life before that- it was just logical.
dear future.. |
I wrote a book with my son, Josh, about our Vegan lifestyle, called Conscious Evolution: Beautiful Vegan Recipes. It took us more than three years to finish, with over 100 awesome recipes, journal entries about our backpacking travels, and all sorts of interesting facts :) And now we're writing another one, so stay tuned!
our first book, conscious evolution! |
this is my soulmate, James :) |
i love doing photo shoots with my friends! |
Everyone's true nature is goodness, but it takes courage to let that come out, so my only advice is that you really listen to what your body and soul needs.
Have a beautiful day!

Dr. Will Tuttle on his book The World Peace Diet:
The World Peace Diet is a best-selling book by Dr. Will Tuttle, about what needs to happen globally in order to evolve as a civilization. Animal slaughter happens daily, and on a massive scale- I always say that it's grander and more evil than genocide because we keep reproducing them for continued slaughter over and over again. The absolute principle teachings from every corner of this world, whether spiritual in nature, religious, or simply human, say that we must treat others how we would like to be treated.
We raise our children to accept certain hypocrisies and think that it will have no consequence. If a child hurts a family pet, or actually kills the animal, we send him/her for psychological testing and counseling- we worry that it might lead to other violent acts in the future... but that same evening we hand them a plate of meat (dead animal) to eat for dinner.
Many scholars in the past and present insist that until we behave peacefully towards all beings around us, including animals (and the planet itself), we will never find peace within ourselves. This is because deep down inside we know for a fact that it's a violent act to kill and destroy. We may be able to push it out of our minds so we can enjoy what we are putting in our mouths, but our subconscious minds know the truth.
People will say "Well I don't kill animals", but they do. They participate willingly by going to the supermarket and handing over their money in exchange for a plastic-wrapped piece of meat from the grocery store. If no one was buying it there wouldn't be giant factories filled with people hired to cut the throats, skin and dismember cows, pigs, chickens and lams.
I'm usually not this graphic in my writings, but it amazes me that most of us have not evolved in the slightest way. Inventing faster computers, cell phones and other gadgets has nothing to do with evolution. It's external. We evolve by finding peace from inside ourselves, and spreading it outward to others. Simple. We become better people.
I'm going to stop pandering to people who say "my doctor said I need to eat meat and dairy", or "I tried it but I felt so weak and I got sick", or my favourite, "I'm the wrong blood type to eat a plant-based diet".
Absolutely everyone can thrive on a plant-based diet- period. If your doctor told you to eat meat and drink milk to be healthy, get another doctor who is actually educated in plant-based nutrition. If you got sick or felt weak from trying a vegan diet you either weren't doing it right and/or you were going through a detoxification process. And the whole blood type thing is bullshit. Ask for a show of hands at a vegan potluck.
It's time. Do it for your health, the planet, the animals- whatever. I have so much faith in our potential.
Thank you again to all of you who are trying to find that peace. It means so much to us.

"Not from concentrate" juice is not fresh juice at all:
We've all been duped into thinking that pasteurized juice like Tropicana's "not from concentrate orange juice" is better for us than "from concentrate" juice. Not so, unfortunately it's no better. Pasteurization means boiling the juice for a length of time at 145 degrees or above. All raw foods and juices contain living enzymes that are killed with any heat above 118 degrees. It is dead food. A good thing to remember is this:
if it's too hot to put your finger in the food you are preparing, then you are killing the enzymes and destroying a lot of the vitamins. If you put your hand in boiling water you will burn yourself and skin cells will start to die off, and if you kept your hand in that boiling water for some time you would have to have it amputated, because it would literally 'kill' all the cells in your hand- (gross, but it's the same idea).
I know that I put up cooked food recipes on the site, and they taste great, but the raw food recipes give me the most energy, radiance and happiness. I know from my own experience that raw food makes me feel and look the best, and it's a direction I have been heading in for years. It's a little difficult to do 100% raw (in my opinion), while living in a country that gets very cold in the winter months, but I eat mostly raw food now anyway.
The photo above, below and beside it REAL JUICE!
It's RAW and freshly made, not boiled :) But you will have a hard time finding it in a store, so you either have to invest in a juicer (what I suggest), or go to a place that specializes in fresh juices!
Watch this incredible video about the truth behind all orange juice industry producers:
I am also adding a 12 minute video by Peter Daniel, who wrote the book Rawlicious explaining what superfoods are and why they are so incredible for the body:
Have a beautiful day!
Fall is here in Canada, so here are two comfort foods to snuggle up with:
This quick video shows you how to make raw hot chocolate and raw vegan pudding :) I hope you are all having lovely weather wherever you are in the world. Here in Canada it's fall and getting a bit cold, so we have to dress up more and enjoy what we've been given. I finally joined facebook, so click the top left button on the site if you want to connect with us more easily and see what we're up to :)
The beautiful vegan facebook app will be ready soon! xoxo
