James Toth Photograph (c)- he's so amazing! |
You never know what a smile can do for someone. Several years ago my parents received a letter with my name on it from someone I went to highschool with. As I read it I barely recalled the person I had befriended. He wrote that he had a very difficult time in school because he was gay and was beaten up and harassed all of the time. He said he often contemplated suicide. The letter was to thank me for being nice to him and to let me know that he remembered it. I cried when I realized who it was because I didn't do anything out of the ordinary for him. I simply talked to him on lunch breaks and after school sometimes. The letter ended with him telling me that his life was much better now and how happy he was to be alive.
For every action we make there is a reaction. So our job here is to have an open heart and do what we honestly feel is right. People will be inspired by this even if it isn't immediate. The seeds will have been planted and at the right time something you did will inspire them make changes in their life, which in the end, makes positive changes in the world!

Lyn, that was great... something I've been trying to say for so long. It's all about blind faith, planting the seed and believing that somewhere along the line that person will be reminded and the spark will be lit.
love it
